Employees who were included in the NYS Deficit Reduction Leave Program (DRL) are reminded that any remaining Deficit Reduction Leave accruals must be used no later than March 31, 2013, or be forfeited. DRL was implemented for all Management/Confidential employees and employees in the CSEA, PEF, and PBA/NYS bargaining units.

DRL is to be requested in advance and is subject to supervisory approval in the same manner as vacation and personal leave accruals. DRL credits may not be used to cover unscheduled absences such as calling in sick but may be used for planned appointments, with prior supervisory approval, including medical appointments or scheduled absences
